I had a little too much fun this week over Thanksgiving break. I went over my limitations slightly, training 6.5 hours this week. The weather was nice on Saturday and I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to go out and throw for a second time this week.

This week was a lot less stressful than previous weeks due to some time off for Thanksgiving. I think training reflected the lack of stress, especially in the weight room, where I hit some very good AMRAP sets.
According to ExRx.net, which has a calculator that predicts a 1 rep max based on an AMRAP set, I should be able to deadlift around 390lbs for 1 rep right now. This type of calculation is not always accurate but I find it encouraging that the work I have been doing in the weight room has given me a shot at cracking 400lbs when I max in 3 weeks.
Throwing went well this week; I am finally starting to dial my throw in a little bit. I was able to put my last 3 throws around 47ft at Saturdays practice. I have mainly been focusing on big general concepts like head placement and keeping my feet on the ground and working longer. The weather is supposed to ok this week so hopefully I will be able to get a few more good practices in before my meet on December 9th.
Next week will be exciting as I get to coach and see my athletes compete at the first meet of the year. I am really looking forward to seeing them compete, but with all of the excitement I am still going to have to focus on school as we are coming to the end of the semester and I have several papers due. I expect next week to be quite stressful, so we will see how this plays on training. I am hoping I can manage to have another good week of training next week as this is my last heavy training week before I max in three weeks. Overall, I had a really good week this week with some time off, and I am looking forward to an exciting week this week.
